As a 4th generation business, we have faced many challenges during our 92 years. In particular, the last 18 months have been punctuated with highs and lows. The COVID pandemic not only threatened our lives but our livelihood as well. The wedding of Lindsay and Will in June was celebrated successfully and became a family high point. In between, there was plenty of both. Throughout, the support of family, friends, staff, and customers has been overwhelming. We are grateful and humbled by these relationships.

Lindsay’s marriage and her decision not to run the business became a pivotal moment during this time. The family needed to remap our future to ensure the continuation of our heritage as we approach retirement. We welcome Benjamin D. Karl as a new partner and future owner.

Ben is a young Lancastrian with 12 years of experience in 3 outstanding specialty stores including a past local competitor. The family is excited to have someone who understands the uniqueness of the Filling’s brand and tradition. Ben and his wife Lisa are community-minded and truly love Lancaster.

Ben’s passion for the business, with guidance from our family, will provide a dynamic shopping experience. He is a master merchandiser. But, we will never abandon the fundamentals of great products and exceptional service you have come to expect. Ben’s newness will be layered over proven tactics with a design for growth. Relationship building will remain a core value.

We are excited to share this news. The older Fillings have established an opportunity for retirement in the next few years. Jay, Mary Beth, and Lindsay will remain as integral members of the transition. We will continue buying as well as selling. Your familiar staff will be available to assist your needs.

We believe we have created a tailor-made strategy for each of our futures. Customers receive an upgraded experience, Mary Beth and Jay obtain an exit strategy, and Ben has an opportunity to grow a business currently at the height of its success. Lindsay can maintain her current position and hopefully make her parents grandparents in the future.

Look for upcoming events to welcome Ben and his wife Lisa to the Filling’s family. We are excited for new product introductions along with your favorite trunk shows and a renewed focus on current brands.
